Misfits- Test Question

Discuss the ways in which the extract constructs the representation of age using sound.

In the extract of misfits that I watched they used sound in a very discrete way to represent the age group of all of them. The music that was used in the opening titles kind of gave away the fact that it was a teen/sci-fi drama. It gave it away because it was very upbeat and had a hip-hop edge to it. The title music kind of gives away what the teenagers are going to be like in the programme, the stereotypical, mischievous teenagers that are always in trouble mucking around, doing drugs and getting into trouble.

They use a lot of sound affects (non-diegetic) when they are talking about their 'special powers' in the scene, these seem very fake and obvious that they have been put in, but they've been put in to make it more obvious that their using their special powers.

The language they use in the first 5 minutes that I watched seems like what a very stereotypical teenager of their age would use. They use a lot of slang and talk about sex a lot which is what people see as stereotypical teenagers these days.
